The Hampton Inn is a 48,000 sq ft hotel with 80 rooms and surface parking inCollege Park, MD with a total cost of over $10,000,000.

Situated just south of the intersection of 495 and Route 1, Star had the foresight and vision to develop the first new hotel in this area in more than ten years.   The location and site presented many obstacles due to the surrounding environment, building size restrictions and initial rejection by potential franchisors, like the Hampton Inn.  These challenges did not deter Star from taking risks and pushing for its vision to come to fruition. 

Upon its completion, the new Hampton Inn became the cornerstone of development along Route One.   Shortly thereafter a new shopping center was developed and a large expanded intersection and entrance to College Park were installed.  This hotel provided many new jobs and increased sales, property, and payroll taxes by thousands of dollars per year.  Star and this project were a catalyst for change along the Route 1 corridor by setting the bar higher for the surrounding businesses.

The hotel was completed in October 2000 on track with the 10 month schedule and within its original budget.
